David Blackwell, 32, who died January 4th at a government hospital in Santa Barbara, California, will be held Friday afternoon at 2:30 at the White Oak Baptist church in Mill Spring. Burial in church cemetery. Rev. H. F. Bean will conduct the service. The deceased is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Blackwell, two brothers, Walter and Burton Blackwell; three sisters, Mrs. Liz zie Garrett, Mrs. Sallie Dameron of Mill Spring and Mrs. Emma Mae Searcy. Tryon Route One. Private Blackwell had been in the army about five months. ROTARY MEETS FRIDAY AT SUNNYDALE Sunnydale will open Friday noon only, for the regular meeting of the Rotary club which will be held at 1 p. m. The program will be in charge of Major Bernard Sharp. County Agent J. A. Wil son and Home Agent Miss Gladys Hamrick, will speak on the war situation as it affects Polk county farm life. TryoW School Collecting Needed Scrap Iron To carry on the war scrap iron is still needed and there is the demand for more and more. Around Tryon, we understand that there is plenty of waste iron, in yards, basements, garages, and other places which the government is asking for.
